NOTES FROM GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE

As you are aware, the golf course has been receiving heavy rain since the beginning of the month. From December 1 to December 10 we have received over 5 inches of rain! The good news is that the state-wide drought for South Carolina has been officially declared over. In between repairing wash-outs in the bunkers, we were able to complete a few projects. We are in the final stages of painting all golf course accessories, along with both restrooms and the irrigation pump house. Last Monday the greens were aerated with bayonet tines to help eliminate algae that had formed as a result of the wet conditions. Aeration of the green surfaces is also done to prevent crusting, which can restrict air flow to the soil. With the greens entering their dormant winter state, we have installed the three hole cup system. This is done so that we can move hole locations daily without creating numerous plugs from old locations that do not heal on the dormant Bermuda grass greens. Stay dry and look ahead for more sunny days on the course!

Join us for a morning shotgun before Santa comes to town! Make your own group or the Golf Shop will pair you up. There is no tournament, just come out and have fun with family and friends.

December 27 Twilight Golf 12:30pm Shotgun
Sign up for this 18 hole event with a scramble format. Make your own foursome or sign up and let the Golf Shop pair you. The cost is only $5 per couple. After golf, enjoy the Soup & Salad Bar at the Community Clubhouse (optional).

Silent Auction

Items will be displayed with the descriptions in the Community Clubhouse for two weeks ongoing prior to the Charity Golf Tournament. The winning Member of each item will be announced at the reception following the tournament. Look for a full list of items to be published to the community the first of January.

Charity Par 3 Golf Tournament
• Location: Hampton Hall's Pete Dye-designed course
• Time: 1:00 PM Shotgun
• Format: Mixed Couples Scramble, 9 Hole
o Complimentary Beverage Cart with beer, wine & snacks
o Cocktail Reception ~ hors d'oeuvres, beer, wine & beverages following tournament
• Eligibility: All residents of Hampton Hall and all Lowcountry residents
• Cost: $35 for Members, $50 for Public (including replay on Sunday, January 24 for cart fee only)
• Benefits: ALL proceeds from the Silent Auction and Tournament will be given to the ACS
